** A Message from the DCYR Executive Board:

Greetings to all our friends, members, and supporters!

We hope that you had a safe and wonderful holiday season spent in the company of loved ones.

We begin 2022 following a strong showing at our annual Holiday Gala last month. Thank you to all those who joined us for a night of music and libations! For everyone who attended, your ticket purchase included your 2022 membership renewal. If you were unable to join us and have not already done so, we encourage you to renew your membership. We are anticipating a very active midterm election season and will have multiple opportunities to get involved.

The DC Young Republican Executive Board continues to monitor the situation with Mayor Muriel Bowser’s mask & vaccine mandates. We will continue to operate as we always have, and work to make these next several months as seamless as possible in terms of programming and events. We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

We thank you for your continued support of our organization, and can not wait for a new year that may end with a Congress returned to Republican control!

** Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day

America is an imperfect union that we, as beneficiaries of the promises enshrined by the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution, must continue to protect for future generations. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had a profound and unifying message. Through non-violent action, Dr. King and the Civil Rights Movement helped extend the promise of our founding documents to those disenfranchised by the ills of segregation.

We are called to fulfill the promise of America—and to do so through non-violent action. Let us continue to live in the example set by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and deepen our common bonds with our neighbors and fellow Americans.


** Executive Board Election Season Is Here!
------------------------------------------------------------

Elections for the DCYR Executive Board are coming up! Candidate filing period begins TODAY!

The elected officer positions are Chairman, Executive Vice Chair, National Committeeman, National Committeewoman, Vice Chair of Communications, Vice Chair of Events, Vice Chair of Finance, Vice Chair of Service, and Vice Chair of Membership. A candidate for any office must be an active DCYR member in good standing for at least sixty (60) days prior to running for office.

There are special criteria for Chair, National Committeeman, and National Committeewoman. To run for those offices, the candidates must reside in the District of Columbia.

To be eligible to vote, you must be registered as an Active/Full Member by 30 days prior to our election (February 25, 2022). To qualify as an Active/Full Member, you must be: (i) between the ages of 18-40; and (ii) be a resident or work in the District of Columbia within the past twelve (12) month period.

Timeline:
* February 25, 2022: Deadline to register as a member in order to be eligible to vote.

* February 28, 2022: Deadline for candidates to 'file' their candidacy by email to Elections Committee Chair, Jonathon Hauenschild, at [email protected]. (mailto:[email protected]) Please include your name, confirmation of your active membership, and the position for which you plan to run for.

* March 14, 2022: Candidates running for executive board elections will have the opportunity to give speeches at the March membership meeting, scheduled for Monday, March 14th at the Capitol Hill Club. Nominations from the floor will also be entertained for those who did not file by the February 28 deadline.

* Week of March 21, 2022 - Executive Board Election Day: (Election Night Date, Time, and Venue TBA). Elections will be held using a secret paper ballot. Only Active/ Full Members registered prior to February 25, 2022 will be permitted to vote.
+ Results will be announced via Facebook following the voting period.
