Voting rights have been in the news all month long, as many Democratic members of Congress tried to pass legislation to protect our voting rights.
In my eyes, passing voting rights legislation is one of the most critical tasks our elected officials must tackle. Now is the time to make real the promise of democracy. We must protect the right to vote and ensure everyone’s vote counts.

Last year Republican legislators in state governments across the country introduced over 400 bills that would make it harder to vote. These laws often disproportionately affect the voting rights of people of color.
Whether these states are carelessly removing voters off voting rolls or increasing roadblocks to the ballot box by limiting voting accessibility, this is just plain wrong.
Our democracy is on the line and we need leaders who will stand up and go to bat for voting rights each and every day. I promise to be that leader.
