John,
AOC was just asked what she thought of Gov. Andrew Cuomo's threats to eliminate the Working Families Party in New York state. Here's what she had to say:
Next week, the members of New York state's Public Financing Commission will hold their final public hearing. This commission SHOULD be focused on enacting a robust system of fair elections that would finally take on the corrupting influence of big money in politics.
But instead, the New York Times reports that Gov. Cuomo is trying to "push a proposal that would essentially neuter almost all third parties, crippling [WFP] but also potentially helping conservatives.”1
With the 2020 election just a year away, it is outrageous that Gov. Cuomo would act to empower the right wing at the expense of our progressive movement. We can stop this, but we don't have much time.

Andrew Cuomo and his billionaire Wall Street and real estate industry friends are mad.
He's mad because WFP supported progressive primary challengers last year up and down the ballot in New York, and because we won big.
He's mad at the incredible wave of progressive policy passed this year in NY state thanks to those 2018 wins — including landmark new rent laws, climate legislation, criminal justice reform, and ensuring reproductive rights.
And he's mad at the growing momentum behind our movement and our increasing success electing transformational WFP candidates, from Jumaane Williams in NYC, to Kendra Brooks in Philadelphia, to the hundreds of other WFP candidates across the nation who won their elections just last week.
Andrew Cuomo doesn't like any of this — and now he's transparently attacking the WFP because we stood up to him.
The Public Financing Commission’s recommendations are due by December 1st, and they will have the power of law before the end of the year unless New York's state legislature acts.
Here's how we fend off these attacks, John: with solidarity. From AOC, to Elizabeth Warren, to Bernie Sanders and more, our movement has stood UNITED against Gov. Cuomo's attacks on progressives since the beginning of this year.2 Now, we are asking you to stand with us one more time.
Join AOC and tell Andrew Cuomo: I stand with the Working Families Party. Make sure to add your name before the final public hearing November 13th.
Thank you for all you do.
In solidarity,
Team WFP
