Amazon Prime's Always Jane is a love letter to PFLAG families

On last Thursday's episode of Something to Talk About Live! we hosted Jane and Laura Noury, the subjects of Always Jane, an incredible docuseries from our friends at Amazon Prime. The story follows Jane, a transgender teen in New Jersey, and her journey with her supportive family. The series has heart, humor, and parents who--like almost every PFLAGer--lead with love. Missed the episode? Be sure to catch it on demand, any time, on our social channels, including YouTube.

Then, be sure to check it out Always Jane at pflagnation.al/AlwaysJane

Three Steps to Being a Better Ally to LGBTQ+ Jewish People

January 27th marks International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Here are some resources to help you be a better ally to the Jewish LGBTQ+ Community.

  1. Learn: Check out some resources to learn more about LGBTQ+ persecution in Nazi Germany. Read this article about how LGBTQ+ history had been ignored in discussions of the Holocaust for so long. Learn about how LGBTQ+ people can stand in solidarity with the Jewish community.
  2. Watch: Watch this documentary video from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum about the Nazi persecution of LGBTQ+ people. Take a look at this video from USA Today for International Holocaust Remembrance Day 2021. And, of course, be sure to tune into Something To Talk About Live! on January 27th, featuring writer Andrea Carlo (see below for details).
  3. Share: Visit the website for International Holocaust Remembrance Day and be sure to check out the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance on Facebook and Twitter. Follow some of our partner organizations focused on the intersection of LGBTQ+ and Jewish communities on social media, including Keshet and Eshel.

Advocacy

Take Action Now: Pass the Women's Health Protection Act

January 22nd was the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, but sadly, reproductive rights are still under attack.

Take action today by reaching out to your two Senators and asking them to bring to the floor and vote for the House-passed Women's Health Protection Act (WHPA) of 2021, (S. 1975), which would codify the right to provide and receive abortion care. Being able to decide whether and when to have a child is essential to the dignity and equality of all people.

PFLAG National's policy on reproductive health includes safe and affordable access to abortion, and PFLAG National is among the LGBTQ+ organizations that sent a letter to Senate leadership urging action.

Find your Senators and take action today.

Something to Talk About...Live!

Honoring LGBTQ+ Victims of the Holocaust Whose Stories Were Lost

This Thursday, January 27 is International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Join us live at 4:30pm ET/1:30pm PT for Something to Talk about Live! as we'll discuss the need to elevate the often-unknown or actively erased stories of LGBTQ+ victims who were oppressed, harassed, tortured, and sent to concentration camps because of their identities.

We'll be discussing the Time article, "Why It Took Decades for LGBTQ Stories to Be Included in Holocaust History," by writer Andrea Carlo, who will join us as our special guest for the show!

You can watch live on FacebookYouTubeLinkedIn, or Twitter.

For more information--and to check out our discussion questions in advance--visit pflagnation.al/STTALive-012722.
