If you want to learn more about the Hudbay Minerals lawsuits, here is a compilation of videos taken by Professor Catherine Nolin (UNBC) during a public event at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, after the 'amendments motion' hearing that took place on September 17, 2019 in Toronto, Canada.

This hearing was to decide if Hudbay Minerals could be held liable, in law, for the actions of the Guatemalan police and soldiers, as well as its then-company security guards, during the violent eviction of the village of Lote 8 in 2007. During this eviction, roving groups of soldiers/police/company security guards gang-raped 11 women who are now plaintiffs in one of the three over-lapping Hudbay Minerals lawsuits.

Here (PDF: [link removed]) are excerpts from the 2017 examinations for discovery (depositions) of 11 Maya Q’eqchi’ women from the village of Lote 8, municipality of El Estor, Izabal, Guatemala. These women are plaintiffs in the ‘Lote 8 gang-rape’ lawsuit, one of three Hudbay Minerals lawsuits working their way through Canadian courts.
