John, I'm excited to share the latest from CRC with you:
- Which states were flooded with "Zuck bucks"?
CRC's cutting-edge investigations into how Mark Zuckerberg and the Center for Tech and Civic Life influenced the 2020 election mapped out nearly $325 million in "Zuck bucks" flowing to 47 states and the District of Columbia. Our same research prompted the Wall Street Journal's Editorial Board to condemn the practice. When the Center at last revealed all its funding, CRC's Parker Thayer and Hayden Ludwig quickly compared the final numbers with our estimates here (Spoiler alert: our earlier investigations prove remarkably accurate).
- How many Soros DAs are there?
While the Left has many billionaires like George Soros, none has transformed America's criminal justice system as powerfully as he. His influence on left-wing candidates for local prosecutor jobs is often wildly underestimated. Since 2016, when he first began to back prosecutor campaigns, Soros has funneled more than $29 million to over 20 individual candidates, many of whom won their elections and remain in office today. Parker Thayer assesses the damage to justice in America here.

What dark secrets lie behind the push to kill the filibuster? Two big secrets lie behind the push to kill the filibuster and, supposedly, protect “voting rights.” First, this lobbying campaign is driven not by grassroots groups of ordinary people, but by left-wing megadonors and the AstroTurf groups they fund. The second secret: This scheme isn’t about “protecting Democracy” because overwhelming majorities of citizens in our democracy support the state election laws that these deep-pocketed special interests want to snuff out. Jason Snead of the Honest Elections Project and I expose this scam here.
- Who is Tina Tchen?
Last month, a Chicago jury found actor Jussie Smollett guilty of faking a supposed "hate crime" against himself. When Smollett's story first looked implausible at best and Chicago prosecutors began pursuing an indictment, Obama administration alumnae and Chicago officials fought to prevent justice from being served. One of these cover-up artists, Tina Tchen, formerly Michelle Obama's chief of staff, then went on to other jobs in the Left that let her unjustly aid still more misbehaving leftists. Michael Watson takes names here.
- How many billions has Warren Buffet spent promoting abortion?
Famed investor Warren Buffett should probably be more famous for one of his less-known investments: He is almost certainly the largest funder of abortion in human history. In the two decades since 2000 he has funneled a staggering sum to abortion providers, activists, lobbyists, and research groups. Hayden Ludwig reveals the grim total here.
Left-Wing "Dark Money" Groups Fund Anti-Filibuster Campaign
Last week, Hayden Ludwig appeared on Washington Watch with Tony Perkins to talk about a "coalition" of left-wing "dark money" groups that are campaigning to eliminate the filibuster in the U.S. Senate. The coalition sent a letter to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), urging him to eliminate the filibuster so the Senate can pass more of the Left's agenda.
The coalition is led by Fix Our Senate, a fiscally sponsored project of Sixteen Thirty Fund, which in turn is part of the "dark money" network run by Arabella Advisors. In other words, Fix Our Senate is yet another "pop up" group designed to give the appearance of popular support to an issue. In fact, many coalition members are themselves either pop-up groups created by Arabella Advisors or groups that have received millions of dollars of Arabella's largess, which makes the whole campaign a classic example of AstroTurf activism.

InfluenceWatch Podcast 201
In this episode: If you listen to the metropolitan press, the radical ideology of critical race theory is not taught in public schools. Yet across the country, parents are objecting to curricula and education practices that are clearly informed by critical race theory and promoted to school districts by advocacy nonprofits and for-profit consultants, who are backed by the biggest names in Big Business and Big Philanthropy.
Joining the podcast to discuss one such group, the Education Trust, and the broader trends of critical race theory in schools, is Jay Greene, senior research fellow at the Heritage Foundation Center for Education Policy.
