Dear John,

We at Team Maryott have spent the last two years fighting back against Bernie Sanders and Mike Levin’s disastrous plan to have the federal government run our healthcare system. Opposition to this horrific idea has had some impact, leading the Progressive Movement to make some tweaks (albeit two very minor areas and only from wildly oppressive to extremely oppressive). But we and others will continue the fight.
 

This week we are faced with a similar challenge to the health and well being of ourselves and our loved ones.  This week in the California Assembly, they will be debating a bill that will put our entire statewide healthcare system in the hands of the Governor, Assembly Speaker, and Chair of the Senate Rules Committee. That is correct – our entire health insurance and healthcare  delivery system will be overseen by an advisory committee appointed by Newsom and company. My family’s current insurance, your family’s current insurance, your elderly parent’s insurance, your college age child’s insurance, will cease to exist. We will be part of CalCare whether we like it or not!

It’s wildly expensive of course – and attempts to raise taxes to pay for it will increase the already alarming exodus of hard working, tax paying, law abiding individuals and families to other states. But the main threat to you and your loved ones could end up being far more than a financial one. Your ability to make healthcare decisions and choices that are right for you and your family will be limited by this plan – and some day the consequences could mean life and death.   Yes, enrollment is easy (we will all be enrolled at birth), and the advertised cost for care is to die for: “FREE” - but I assure you we will get what we pay for!!
