This is a major victory for redistricting and voting rights.
ACLU Supporter, with everything that's transpired in the Senate, we know equal voting power in this country feels uncertain. But please take heart in the fact that this fight does not start and end with Congress – and the ACLU is not letting up on any front. <[link removed]>
In fact, we recently secured two major redistricting victories in Ohio – which will be critical for fair representation and fair elections during this year's midterms and beyond:
The Supreme Court of Ohio ruled in our favor in two landmark decisions challenging the state's unconstitutional legislative maps and congressional district maps. In this opinion, the court also ordered the Republican-controlled Redistricting Commission and General Assembly, respectively, to re-draw both maps so they comply with Ohio's constitution.
These wins are major and we're hopeful they'll be the first of many this year in our ongoing push to challenge gerrymandered maps across the country. <[link removed]>
You can read up on all of our recent litigation updates in this work below – and remember, no matter what, we will never stop fighting for a democracy that works for all of us in this country.
Thank you so much for being with us in this fight, ACLU Supporter. We couldn't do it without you.

ACLU Supporter –
Over the last several weeks, our lawyers have been hustling around the clock to file new lawsuits swiftly <[link removed]> in order to fight a handful of blatantly gerrymandered district maps.
Here's what's happening:
Georgia: In our final piece of litigation in 2021, we sued the state of Georgia for its unfair, racially discriminatory state legislative maps as soon as the Governor signed them into law.
Arkansas: We're suing Arkansas over their newly drawn state House maps, which dilute the voting strength of Black voters and deny equal participation in the political process.
South Carolina: We're suing South Carolina over their newly drawn and illegally gerrymandered state House maps – the second litigation against the state this cycle, following our original lawsuit over their delayed redistricting process.

ACLU Supporter, these are only our most recent redistricting lawsuits – and our ongoing litigation against gerrymandering in both Ohio and Alabama continue in court as well.
What's the rush to file? As you know, the nation is in the thick of redistricting – and the new district maps will impact the outcome of future elections and how people are represented for the next 10 years.
The midterms are this November and that means there's very little time to ensure that these new maps are created fairly and without discrimination.
That's why we've been so busy. There's a long history in our country of manipulating maps to weaken the voting power of Black and Brown voters – and we must fight back.
We've been able to do that so far, with speed and full strength, because community members like you believe in the fight.
We'll reach out again with more from the courts soon – and in the meantime, you can catch up here on every redistricting lawsuit that you've helped make happen. <[link removed]>
