I wanted to shoot you a quick email and warn you that over the next few days you may be receiving a few more emails than usual from my team, but PLEASE don’t ignore them – we have a good reason.

The end of this month marks the close of the first month of the new FEC fundraising quarter – if we want to have strong numbers by the next public reporting deadline, we need to make sure we hit our $300,000 fundraising goal this month.

I will explain more below, but if you’re in a hurry will you rush a $10 contribution to my end-of-month goal today? Please know that I wouldn’t be asking unless it was important.

What we raise this month will set the tone for the rest of the year. That's a big deal because election analysts, pundits, and national Republicans will be watching my fundraising numbers very closely for signs of any potential weakness.

And if they do sense weakness, you can bet a flood of outside spending and dark money will flow into IL-06 and the attack ads will follow.

So, we’re going to be emailing a bit more frequently this week in an effort to ramp up our fundraising efforts – early investments are key for a strong public report in a couple of months.
