Hi friends, Team Plaskett here hoping you are having a wonderful weekend.
With so much going on in the news cycle around COVID, voting rights, climate, and so many other things that at times may seem daunting, some of our team’s accomplishments can get lost in the thick of the news cycle.
But the fact is that Stacey has had a very busy couple of months working for the American people. These wins don’t always make the news, but we’re proud of the work Rep. Plaskett has accomplished and we want to share them with you.
Here are just some of the highlights:
* Stacey helped secure nearly $32 million in federal funding from the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act for the Virgin Islands to strengthen drinking and wastewater systems, including the replacement of dangerous lead service lines and pipes.
* Our team organized a summit between FEMA, the Virgin Islands government, and Congress to have FEMA re-evaluate figures for rebuilding critical infrastructure. The result? A $209 million grant from FEMA to rebuild a major middle school destroyed by natural disaster Hurricane Maria.
* Rep. Plaskett also led the Virtual Roundtable Farm Tour, gathering support for Virgin Islands farmers from government agencies, non-profits, and other stakeholders in the agricultural space to see how their resources and assistance align with the needs of farmers and food producers.
