For the last 49 years, Roe v. Wade has been the law of the land. But every day since the Supreme Court handed down their landmark 7-2 decision in this case, anti-choice Republicans have been fighting to roll back our rights.
From passing laws restricting abortion access in state legislatures, to defunding Planned Parenthood, to even setting bounties for doctors or rideshare drivers who assist with an abortion, it’s clear Republicans don’t care about reproductive health care and have no intention of protecting our constitutional right to choose.
And as the right-leaning Supreme Court weighs their decision in a case directly challenging Roe, it’s clear that the right to safe and legal abortions is in grave danger. Congress must take immediate action to protect the health and safety of women everywhere.
I believe everyone deserves better access to quality, affordable health care, including the full spectrum of reproductive rights. I was proud to have voted to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act in the House last fall — legislation finally codifying Roe v. Wade into federal law. And now, I’m calling on the Senate to step up and do the same.
If you’re with me, please add your name to my petition demanding the Senate pass the Women’s Health Protection Act immediately and protect equal access to reproductive health care once and for all. [[link removed]]
