January 2022 Michigan is in the process of updating its 2015 Wolf Management Plan. Michigan convened a Wolf Management Advisory Council, tasked with making recommendations for the Plan. Unfortunately, the Council is not inclusive. The scales are tipped in favor of the minority who hunt and trap, making your opinion vital! Council members include a representative of Michigan Hunting Dog Federation, MUCC (Michigan's largest hunting advocacy organization), Agriculture & Upper Peninsula hunters, Attorneys for Animals (representing advocacy), tribal interests. Do you support non-lethal measures to reduce wolf conflicts? Should the wolf population be allowed to grow without an artificial population cap? Do you support increased penalties for illegally killing a wolf? Should Michigan DNR emphasize wolf education in the media?
