Friend,
This is an incredibly useful and timely opportunity: Our friends at Run for Something are offering a free training for young progressives in rural communities.
If you live in a rural area and are interested in running for office – or want more tools to talk to friends and neighbors about the issues facing your community – this training is for you!
I grew up in a small town in the Ozarks. Year after year, I see columnists and pundits from big cities come up with complicated arguments about how to “win back rural voters.”
I traveled to dozens of small towns across Georgia in 2018, and it’s clear that the Republican agenda is failing them. Folks need Medicaid expansion, better transit, and rural broadband – not Big Lies and tax cuts for the rich!
But it’s impossible to convince folks that Democrats care when Democrats don’t show up. Even the best message falls flat if nobody hears it.
That’s why we must recruit and support candidates who live in rural communities, folks who can talk with – not at – their neighbors about the critical issues facing their communities.
