Friend, as you know, I'm a proud science and engineering nerd. As a college student, I went to Stanford to study engineering on an ROTC scholarship in the hopes of following in Sally Ride's footsteps and becoming an astronaut. After school, I joined the Air Force, where I served as a program engineer on anti-ballistic missile defense programs. (Check out these pictures from back in the day.)
When my time in the Air Force was over and my civilian life began, I wasn't done with science experiments and the periodic table just yet! I went on to teach high school chemistry in North Philadelphia and then founded the Congressional Women in STEM caucus to advocate for policies that support other women pursuing STEM careers.
If there's one thing my decades in STEM have taught me, it's that science and politics aren't as different as they might seem. We need leaders who will look to the data, suss out potential biases, and reject misinformation. Our Commonwealth and our country are counting on leaders who will use evidence and reason to make working families' lives better.
Too many Republicans have opposed the scientific consensus on issues ranging from COVID-19 to climate change to economic strategy, and even the nonpartisan counting of ballots. The GOP doesn't listen to the data; instead they choose to promote misinformation and conspiracy theories. But I'm committed to making the facts shine through.
That's why I need your support today, friend. This campaign relies on grassroots supporters like you to help us keep up our momentum and fight back against the GOP's destructive agenda. But with the GOP narrowing in on me as one of their top targets, two of my four opponents writing their campaigns checks to buy this seat, and Republican-led gerrymandering in the works, I need your support to get a message of truth out over incoming lies.
Please, friend, can I count on you? Donate $5 now to keep this seat and the House blue. Every single dollar will go directly to communicating our positive message and making sure that our path to progress continues forward.

Thank you, friend. There is work to be done.
