Hi John — if we haven’t met yet, I’m Jordan, and I’m John Fetterman’s Cannabis Coalition Director.
Here’s a quick recap of what that means: It’s my job is to organize cannabis communities across Pennsylvania that include a cross section of our residents — from farmers, to folks in our cities, to veterans and everyone in between.
Since I joined the team last spring, we’ve already built a strong and growing coalition of people who support weed justice across the Commonwealth. Which makes it even more shocking to me that most campaigns don’t hire Cannabis Coalition directors…because they don’t have Cannabis Coalitions…because they don’t even support legal weed.
Then there’s John.
Seriously — John Fetterman has spent years working toward ending the racist War on Drugs, and his ongoing fight for marijuana justice + second chances. And that’s why I’m so proud to be on his team.
This isn’t an issue John has had to “evolve” on, John.
First, back in 2016 when other Democrats running for Senate in PA were afraid to go bold on the issue of legal weed, John was a lone voice for full legalization of marijuana, regardless of any political consequences.
Then, in 2018, John *again* chose to make legal weed a key campaign priority in his race for Lt. Governor — something that most other Democrats usually shy away from to this day. (BTW, he and Governor Wolf went on earn the highest number of votes ever won as a ticket in a Pennsylvania gubernatorial election.)
Now, his current role as Lt. Governor, John has helped establish an expedited review process for pardons for low-level cannabis charges. These pardons have helped scores of deserving Pennsylvanians get their lives back after unjust, racist, and inhumane drug policies ripped them away.
Look, most Senate candidates don’t make legal weed a central part of their campaign platform, but John has. Because it’s not just about making weed safe and accessible for medicinal and recreational use. It’s about righting the racial injustice of Black Americans being nearly 4x more likely than white Americans to be arrested for marijuana.
Thank you so much for your support,
Jordan
