Friend,
I am beyond humbled and honored to announce that I’ve been elected as President of the Democratic Mayors Association (DMA). This is a big next step and I wanted you to be one of the first to hear about it.
At the end of the day, I believe that Mayors are uniquely positioned to understand the needs of everyday citizens. We don’t govern from a birds eye view, we face the issues head on.
As I said in my acceptance speech, we must face a harsh and unfortunate reality: Amidst the endless partisan bickering, the daily contentious debates around policy and procedure, and the unpredictability of the pandemic still looming in the background, the notion of a unified Democratic party seems like a pipe dream these days.
I believe that as Mayors, we can cut through the partisan noise, and remind Democrats how to govern. By focusing on the basics. Jobs, housing, education, and healthcare.
It’s not about what side of the aisle you’re on, we’re too busy running cities!
