Before we head into a holiday weekend, I wanted to share some thoughts with you.

To me, November 11, Veterans Day, is more than just a day to celebrate those who have served in the armed forces. It's a day we honor those who risk their lives, put their county and duty, and fight for our freedom. It's a day that makes me proud to be American.

My days of service in the Air Force have shaped my work fighting for veterans. Over the years, we've seen funding being cut from crucial programs that help our veterans get acclimated back to everyday life after service.

That's why when I heard of the poor care, mismanagement, and whistleblower retaliation at the Roseburg VA, I led an investigation that resulted in the removal of ineffective senior officials. I also fought for funding to open a new clinic with improved health care for Oregon's Veterans.

I'm dedicated to holding the federal government accountable to properly care for the brave men and women who serve in our armed forces. These Americans risk their lives to serve our country. They deserve to know that when they come home, their government will have their back, no matter what.

Thank you to all of our service members and their families.

Peter
