News From The Week Of November 4 – 8, 2019
Friend:
I’ll start with the best news of the week: Trump’s Denial of Care Rule has now been struck down as unlawful by not one but TWO federal judges!
You can read my statement on the first case that came down here: [link removed]
These decisions protect both patients’ health and religious freedom. We urge the federal judges reviewing our Denial of Care cases in California and Maryland to reach a conclusion as swiftly as possible and make clear to the Trump administration that this rule is unconstitutional and poses an imminent threat to public health.
This week also marked one year out from Election Day 2020. Americans United continues its nonpartisan outreach to candidates and political parties to educate them on the importance of church-state separation to voters and to advocate for candidates and elected officials to support policies that protect the true meaning of religious freedom for all.
Educating Americans, particularly current and future officeholders, is integral to our mission of protecting the separation of religion and government. That would not be possible without your enduring support.
Thank you for being by our side in these challenging times.
With hope and determination,
Rachel K. Laser
President and CEO
