For Bama’s pluck and grit have writ her name in crimson flame
Fight on, fight on, fight on, men
Remember the Rose Bowl, we’ll win then
Friend,
I never thought much about the lyrics to the Alabama fight song in college — it’s just always reminded me of crisp November days, our team’s growing trophy case, and those four good years I spent in Tuscaloosa.
But today, when I’m at Bryant-Denny Stadium cheering on the Tide, I know those lyrics will remind me of something else. These days, that song is about the resilience and fight of the people of my state. The pluck and grit they’ve shown in the face of adversity, and the drive with which they’ve changed the state — and the world — for the better. I am humbled and honored every day that I get to serve them.

There’s a lot of talk about my opponents right now. Some old names have gotten into the mix, and it’s shaping up to be a bitter race on their side. But I’m not going to be distracted by that. Neither is my team, and I hope you won’t be, either.
Our strategy was decided a long time ago. It’s simple: we’re going to be ourselves and work to bring people together. While the others jockey for position, we’re going to keep working hard for the people. When they try to divide us, we’re going to stand united as One Alabama. When the race seems difficult and national news outlets call me the “most vulnerable senator,” we’ll stay focused and keep going until Election Day.
If you’re with us, please chip in today. We’ll use your contribution to fund our training and volunteer programs — and while they sort out their primary, we’ll keep building the strongest, most positive campaign program in Alabama history. [[link removed]]
Remember Election Day, folks. We’ll win then.
