Friend,

As the only Senator in the country to have worked at Planned Parenthood, I know the importance of fighting for reproductive justice. I’m proud of that history, and I’m not the only one who shares these same values — more than 6 in 10 Americans support the legal right to an abortion.

That’s why today, on the 49th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, I’m thinking about the Women’s Health Protection Act.

Right now, we face an unprecedented crisis in the fight for reproductive freedom. The anti-choice, Trump-appointed conservative majority on the Supreme Court has hinted that they’re open to overturning Roe. First, by failing to block SB8, the draconian vigilante law in Texas, and second, by taking up a Mississippi law that directly challenges Roe v. Wade.

That, combined with a guarantee that McConnell and the GOP will use the filibuster to require a 60-vote threshold to pass — the hard truth is that it’s likely that we won’t get the Women’s Health Protection Act passed in this Congress.

Despite that, the voters deserve to know exactly where their elected representatives stand on this important issue. You deserve to know if any legislator would jeopardize your fundamental rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and decades of Supreme Court precedent.

So let’s bring it up for a vote, folks. Add your name to join my call to bring the Women’s Health Protection Act to a vote in the Senate, and give everyone a chance to see where their representatives stand on this critical piece of legislation.

This bill codifies Roe into law, and the good news is that we have seen some significant progress. Last year, the House successfully passed their version of the WHPA, and shortly after, President Biden signaled his strong support of bringing the bill to his desk by passing it through the Senate.

Putting the Senate on the record matters, and voters deserve to know which Senators believe in protecting every single person's right in this country to make their own reproductive choices.

That’s why I’m asking for your signature today. Add your name to support bringing up the Women’s Health Protection Act up for a vote, because it’s time to put my colleagues on the record.

Thank you for speaking up, and I’ll keep you updated on our progress.
