I worked construction to put myself through college — digging foundations from sunrise to sunset. I know what it’s like to put in a hard day’s work and still not be able to make ends meet.
And that’s still the reality for too many hardworking Coloradans. Wages and benefits aren’t keeping up with the cost of living. And during the COVID-19 pandemic, these disparities have grown even wider.
It’s not enough to go back to the way things were before. It’s time to build an economy for the working class — one with better, high-paying jobs that allow everyone the chance to achieve their American Dream.
No one should have to work multiple jobs in order to put gas in their cars and food on the table. We need to raise wages, make child care more affordable, and invest in workforce development so we can open the door to better opportunities for all hard-working Coloradans.
