Today is an opportunity to recommit ourselves to the fight for reproductive rights.
John — today is the official anniversary of Roe v. Wade.
I know you’re probably seeing a lot of emails and social media posts that might feel discouraging because it’s very possible that this is the last anniversary Roe will have.
But now is not the time to give up hope. The fight for abortion rights has never been more urgent and today is an opportunity for us to recommit ourselves to it. The stolen Supreme Court may overturn Roe this summer, but we know we can pass legislation to safeguard abortion access and rebalance the Court by adding justices to the bench. But we need your support to do it.
For me, this is personal. I have dedicated my professional life to the important work of reproductive freedom. I’ve been a reproductive rights advocate for 20 years — and everything I’ve spent my life fighting for is on the line right now.
I’ve seen — like you — attacks on our basic bodily autonomy, health care, and our freedoms in ways I never thought possible. But every time I’ve seen another egregious attack, I’ve seen our community come together to fight back.
The Supreme Court was intended to be the last line of defense against attacks on our fundamental rights. Instead the stolen, hyper-partisan Court majority refuses to protect even our most basic human rights. But there is a solution: we can and must expand the Supreme Court.
