Friend,
On this day in 1973, the Supreme Court announced its decision in Roe v Wade and legalized safe abortions for women across the country. But in the decades since, reproductive rights have been constantly under attack, and now the conservative majority on the Supreme Court is threatening to take away our rights on the national level.
I’ve dedicated my life working towards achieving equal rights for women here in Maryland and across the country — through my law career, at Planned Parenthood, and at the Women’s Law Center — and I know that women’s economic security and equality depends on the right to bodily autonomy. Now more than ever, we have to stand up for those rights and defend access to reproductive care. So will you join me in calling for improved access to reproductive health care and sign our abortion rights petition today?

I strongly believe that no matter who you are or where you come from, each of us deserves the dignity to make choices for ourselves. Though abortion rights are codified on paper here in Maryland, those protections don’t exactly translate into practice as over two-thirds of Maryland counties do not have meaningful access to a nearby abortion provider. These days, it's not enough to be just pro-choice — we need leadership that understands what’s at stake and what it really means to support reproductive freedom. If you agree, can you sign the petition today to expand access?
Without the basic dignity of bodily autonomy, we can never achieve gender equality. That’s why we must not only ensure a women's right to abortion care is never infringed, but also fight to expand access to care for all women. The King-Siri administration would lead the charge in this fight by removing barriers to access by expanding the scope of practice of who can provide care, filling in gaps in funding and insurance coverage so everyone can afford the reproductive health care they need, and more.
But we can’t do that without your support, so if you have a moment, please add your name to join John and I in calling for real access for reproductive rights today >>
Thank you,
Michelle Siri
