Today marks the 49th anniversary of Roe v. Wade – a landmark decision made by the Supreme Court that protects an individual’s right to choose.

And in the 49 years since this decision, this right has never been more threatened than in this moment.

In September, Texas passed a draconian law banning abortions after six weeks of pregnancy with almost no exceptions.

Almost immediately after Texas made this law, Madison Cawthorn and his allies went on record to say that all 50 states should follow their example – and we have seen some states do exactly this.

We cannot rely on the Supreme Court to protect Roe v. Wade. We urgently need federal protections to protect the right to choose.

As a pro-choice pastor, I will be a vote and a voice in Congress to codify the right to choose into federal law.

We need elected officials and judges who respect a person’s right to make decisions about their own body.
