Twelve years ago yesterday, the Supreme Court hung a big “For Sale” sign on our democracy.
Their disastrous ruling in Citizens United opened the floodgates to unlimited campaign cash from wealthy donors and corporations. It put power in the hands of big money spenders while taking it out of yours.
And since then, the Supreme Court has been shoved even further to the far right.
Which brings me to today’s anniversary. Forty-nine years ago, the Court’s ruling in Roe v. Wade affirmed the right to an abortion. For nearly a half-century, Roe — despite attack after attack and attack from the right — has remained the law of the land.
But the Court’s new conservative supermajority is now on the verge of overturning this landmark protection. Along with Citizens United, and the gutting of the Voting Rights Act, we’ve seen the damage the Court can do. We’ve seen how it’s been hijacked by the far right. And we see how we need to fight back.
I’m going to keep fighting to rebalance the Court by adding at least four new justices. But to get it done, we must elect more progressive Democrats who agree with our vision.
Can you chip in $3 to support our re-election campaign and help get more progressive Democrats elected who believe in restoring balance, integrity, and independence to the extremist Court? Every donation helps change how our government works and who it works for.

I’ll just be blunt: It’s hypocrisy, pure and simple, for Mitch McConnell and his cast of Senate Republicans to cry foul about Court reform.
I had a front-row seat when Mitch and his Republican majority refused to recognize Merrick Garland’s nomination for nearly a full year while they waited out President Obama’s second term, only to watch them scurry to confirm Amy Coney Barrett in the final days of Donald Trump’s presidency and their party’s majority just a few years later.
Let’s face it: Republicans have been playing fast and loose with the rules of engagement for some time now, and particularly when it comes to our judicial system. They’re trying to entrench themselves in power in every branch and at every level of our government, and it is powerfully important we don’t allow that to happen.
As always, I’m ready to fight back — but I can’t do it alone. It’s going to take us working together, building this grassroots coalition and electing more progressive Democrats who understand the urgency of this moment.
If you can, please make a $3 donation to support our campaign and the big, structural change our country needs.
Thanks for being a part of this,
Elizabeth
