John —

Today is the anniversary of Roe v. Wade , a benchmark Supreme Court case which prevents states from outlawing abortion.

Since 1973, Republicans have relentlessly sought to diminish the legal protection afforded by Roe by deploying an arsenal of cruel legislative workarounds.

In 2021 alone, we saw Texas empower civilian deputies to sue reproductive care providers. We saw attempted abortion bans in Florida and Montana. And in multiple states, we saw Republican-majority legislatures deny patients the ability to receive telehealth abortions, severely limiting reproductive care access as clinics closed due to COVID-19.

Then, on December 1, the Supreme Court heard Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization . Reproductive health advocates are not optimistic about the outcome of this case: at best, SCOTUS’ decision will reduce the legal power of Roe; at worst, it will undo Roe completely.

All of these factors — and my enduring belief that abortion care is health care — are why I am proud to be a co-sponsor of the Women’s Health Protection Act. WHPA would codify Roe v. Wade , and protect people seeking reproductive care from the whims of a Trump-stacked SCOTUS.

WHPA is one of the few ways we can ensure reproductive care stays legal and accessible in the United States.

In honor of Roe v. Wade , and the millions of Americans who depend on its legal protection to receive reproductive care, I ask you to join me in signing a petition in favor of passing WHPA. John, can you add your name to our petition, and help me demonstrate to Congress how truly important this bill is? [[link removed]]
