49 years, John.

Today, on the 49th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, it’s critical we recognize
the women who fought for years to deliver reproductive justice and the
fight that’s ahead of us to protect abortion access in our communities.

Let’s make this clear: The constitutional right to access abortion is
still under threat,
John. We are currently facing
some of the greatest threats to reproductive rights in decades. As the
country holds its breath waiting for the Supreme Court to rule on
Mississippi’s Dobbs v. Jackson Woman’s Health Organization, we can’t
afford to stand idly by.

Reproductive Rights Fund so we can continue to build power with Women’s
Marchers across the country? It’s critical we send a loud message today to
anti-abortion extremists that this movement is ready to fight to defend
our rights under Roe v. Wade.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court denied Texas abortion providers’ latest
request for relief from S.B. 8, the most extreme abortion ban in the
nation. In a scathing dissent, Chief Justice Sonia Sotomayor wrote:

“This case is a disaster for the rule of law and a grave disservice to
women in Texas, who have a right to control their own bodies. I will not
stand by silently as a State continues to nullify this constitutional
guarantee. I dissent.”

As we saw in Texas, they will stop at nothing and use all the resources
available to them to erode the right to safe, legal abortion for the sake
of cheap political points.

We must stand in the same strength of Justice Sotomayor and refuse to
stand by and watch our rights be stripped away from us. [ [link removed] ]That is why we
are asking you to make a gift of $19.73 today to our Reproductive Rights
Fund to help fuel our organizing trainings and mobilization efforts.

But we can’t just stop at protecting Roe v. Wade,
John. The reality is that
access to the full spectrum of reproductive health care is already out of
reach for millions of low-income, working people. Especially Black and
Brown communities. 

We can’t just hold the line, we must march forward to expand abortion
access and reproductive rights and justice for all.
