Today is the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s ruling in Roe v. Wade , which solidified abortion as a fundamental right for all Americans.

But now, the right to abortion is facing an uncertain future.

During his presidency, Donald Trump packed the Supreme Court with three conervative justices who have committed themselves to a right-leaning interpretation of our constitution. With a case challenging the right to abortion on its way to the Court, it’s possible that Roe could be overturned before the year is over – paving the way for Republican state legislatures to pass laws that restrict and even ban access to abortion before many people even know they’re pregnant.

As Senator, a woman, and a mother, I will always support the right to an abortion. I will fight to codify Roe v. Wade into law, and will only support judges who recognize the constitutional right to bodily autonomy and reproductive freedom.

Ron Johnson is determined to end access to abortion as we know it. He’s called Roe v. Wade a “tragedy”, voted to ban federal funding for abortion, and supports defunding Planned Parenthood. It’s outrageous, it’s disgraceful, and it’s wrong.
