[ [link removed] ]Welch for Vermont
Hello,
My name is Melinda Moulton, a Vermonter from Huntington. On the 49th
anniversary of the Supreme Court’s ruling in Roe v. Wade, I wanted to tell
my family’s abortion story, and why it’s imperative we work to elect Peter
to represent us in Washington.
When I was eight years old, my parents divorced, leaving my mother to
raise her four children on her own. Eventually, she fell in love again,
but he abandoned her when she became pregnant. She gave birth in a women’s
hospital, which existed for women to give birth in secret. After the
birth, a doctor performed a botched hysterectomy, which led to her death
three days before Christmas in 1962. I was twelve years old.
That was ten years before Roe v. Wade was decided. Since then, I’ve spent
my life fighting for the right to seek safe, affordable, and legal
abortions, no matter who you are or where you live. I know people will
always choose their own reproductive destiny — so we must do what we can
to ensure it remains safe and legal.

add your name demanding the Senate pass the Women’s Health Protection Act?
Vermont is taking the necessary steps to enshrine the right to an abortion
in our state constitution. But with the conservative Supreme Count primed
to continue upholding anti-abortion laws in Texas, Mississippi, and around
the country, we have to come together and demand real action, right now.
This power grab will destroy rights and freedoms across the country. But
if we come together, demand the Senate to act, and work to elect
pro-choice champions like Peter, I have hope we can make a difference.

Senate to do what’s right and pass the Women’s Health Protection Act.
Thank you for taking action,
Melinda Moulton
