Dear John,
I want to share some updates with you from Congress and across the country. Here are three things to know today:
-
This week I voted to pass the Freedom to Vote John R. Lewis Act. This remains a crucial voting rights and election protection bill that would safeguard voter registration and ballot box access as well as election security. It would also protect against partisan gerrymandering and promote campaign finance reform. While this legislation has failed to pass the Senate, I will never stop fighting to ensure free and fair elections for all.
-
I want to applaud the recent award of a $264,008 grant by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Decentralized Water Systems to the Golden Triangle Resource Conservation and Development Area, Inc. These funds, along with an additional $29,351, will be used for an ongoing revolving loan fund project which helps low-income residents in Southwest Georgia’s rural areas. The project repairs or replace individually owned household water well and septic wastewater systems. As the Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, FDA, and related agencies, I will always work diligently to lead efforts to robustly support the broad range of USDA Rural Development Programs which have a local and direct impact on the quality of life for rural communities across the country.
-
Once again, I want to highlight the urgency of my re-election campaign. Over the last month, we have seen two challengers announce their campaigns, with one of my opponents raising $100k in just 10 days. Election day might seem like a long way away, but in reality, we are moving closer to the finish line at an alarmingly quick rate — and we don’t want to watch our opponent pass us. Please, help us keep pace by making a donation today.
Thank you for your continued support. Please, help us keep pace by making a donation today. Visit my website for further updates on my office and how I’m fighting for you.
Sincerely,
Congressman Sanford D. Bishop, Jr.
