Hello,

49 years ago, the Supreme Court of the United States issued a decision in Roe v Wade that legalized abortion for all Americans. Since then, Roe v Wade has protected abortion access in our country against countless attacks, restrictions, and laws.

Yet today, abortion access is being attacked like never before. The truth is, our country has never guaranteed full reproductive freedom for all, which has allowed politicians and special interest groups to pursue restrictive laws and barriers despite Roe v Wade . Keeping abortion legal is necessary, but the law alone will not be enough.

Together, we must work to make sure that all people can get the abortion care they need — whenever, wherever — and are free from unnecessary burdens, hurdles, or fear.

In Michigan, we face major restrictions and challenges, putting abortion out of reach for many people. If Roe falls, Michigan has a pre-Roe ban that would prohibit abortion in nearly all situations. We know that Michigan Republicans will act immediately to enforce this law and will take further action to push abortion completely out of reach for Michiganders.

It’s going to take all of us working together to end the attacks on abortion and make abortion not only legal, but affordable and available to all Michiganders who need it.

Our plan is to work everyday to help elect Michigan Democrats who will stand up to protect abortion care and take proactive action to expand reproductive freedom!
