Friend,
Last year was a devastating year for reproductive rights. From the
near-total abortion bans passing in some states, and the state legislative
attacks on trans-youth health care, to the U.S Supreme Court seeming
poised to turn its back on the nearly 50-year precendent of Roe v. Wade;
the need to protect access to abortion across the U.S. cannot wait. [ [link removed] ]
[1]Urge your U.S. Senator to vote YES on the Women’s Health Protection Act
ensuring access to abortion care across the nation without medically
unnecessary restrictions, limitations, and bans.
This important bill is gaining much needed momentum – and needs your help
to win. In an historic vote, last year, the U.S. House of Representatives
passed the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA) and now we need the Senate
to do the same. Why? WHPA is exactly what we need to protect our
reproductive rights. It is federal legislation that will grant the right
for health care providers to provide abortion care, free from medically
unnecessary restrictions that impede access. In 2021, it became evident
that state lawmakers are targeting people struggling financially,
especially Black women and communities of people who are often
marginalized, with policies that deny them the ability to make their own
decisions about their health and economic security. [ [link removed] ][ [link removed] ] We must
continue to put pressure on lawmakers to make decisions that protect us,
not harm us.
[2]Friend, join us by adding your name to our petition calling on
the U.S. Senate to stand up for reproductive rights and pass the Women’s
Health Protection Act!
We know that legal abortion has never been enough and that systemic
racism, economic insecurity, and immigration status multiply the
already-massive barriers to abortion care. If Roe fell, half the U.S.
states could act immediately to prohibit abortion entirely. [ [link removed] ] That’s
why we have joined with All* Above All, the Center for Reproductive
Rights, and so many others as we continue our fight towards reproductive
justice. The time is now!
We’re urging the U.S. Senate to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act, to
lift statewide abortion coverage bans, protect immigrants seeking
reproductive health care from deportation, and to make abortion care more
accessible to everyone in need. We need our lawmakers to support policies
that ensure everyone can get the abortion care they need to thrive in
their communities and live their lives with economic security and dignity.
The unprecedented pandemic has already disproportionately impacted Black,
Latino, and Indigenous communities. Relief is needed now.
