Hi John,
Today is the 49th anniversary of
Roe v. Wade -- and it's not an exaggeration to say it could be the last.
Half a century of reproductive freedom is about to be undone right before our eyes.
Last year was the worst year for abortion rights since
Roe was decided. Texas passed SB8, a law that bans abortion after 6 weeks (before most people know they're pregnant) and allows vigilantes to sue ANY person or organization who helps someone get abortion care.
Just yesterday, the Supreme Court rejected another attempt to block this extreme law -- a clear signal they're going to end
Roe when given the chance to rule on another state abortion law later this year.
I'll be frank here: We're in this situation because Democrats have neglected state and local elections for years. SB8 is one of the hundreds of bills state Republicans introduced, passed, and hoped would get before a Supreme Court that wants to end abortion -- they played the long game, and they're about to win.
That's why right
now, we're working
furiously to fix the mistakes of our movement's past and protect years of progress by recruiting and electing strong pro-choice candidates to run for state legislatures nationwide.
Can you chip in
$5
or anything you can to give our diverse young progressives the jump start they need to win and fight back against the attacks on reproductive freedom? Right now a generous donor is matching all gifts up to $50,000 -- so your impact will be DOUBLED.

I know it's easy to feel hopeless right now. But Run for Something was born in what seemed like a hopeless moment: Trump had just won and decades of progress hung in the balance.
Yet, in these past 5 years together, we've elected over 600 diverse young progressives. People like…
- Florida state Reps. Anna Eskamani and Michele Rayner -- who spoke out just this week about the newest abortion ban Republicans introduced in the state legislature;
- Michigan state Rep. Laurie Pohutsky and Sen. Mallory McMorrow -- who are vocally supporting a ballot initiative that would protect access to abortion in the state if Roe overturned (otherwise abortion will be criminalized in Michigan);
- Nebraska state Senator Megan Hunt, introduced legislation this month to protect and expand access to abortion -- including repealing current laws that require specific insurance riders to cover abortion and repealing the state’s ban on telehealth for medication abortion. Even in "red" states, it matters to have pro-choice leaders like Megan.
Together we've shined through the darkness and our candidates have become a beacon of hope that so many believe in. We've never given up because fighting for what's right is worth it.
A generous donor has even offered to match $50,000 to help elect pro-choice, diverse young progressives. Can you chip in
$5
or anything you can to help them win?
Let's go,
