Forty-nine years ago, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the right to choose to have an abortion without excessive government restriction was protected in the Roe v. Wade decision.

Roe has been under attack ever since, but never more so than right now. Our rights and our bodily autonomy are being eviscerated all over the country. The abortion bans we see in states across the nation questioning the legality, morality, and role of religion in these decisions are just the beginning.

Jahana voted to pass the Women's Health Protection Act last year, which would protect a person’s ability to make her own health care choices and allow health care providers the ability to provide abortion services. Women should be in full control of their reproductive decisions.

We must work to ensure everyone has full access to reproductive rights and healthcare, whether it be birth control, comprehensive prenatal care, or abortion care – and maintain their right to choose without restriction.
