Today marks the 49th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s groundbreaking Roe V. Wade decision. On this day nearly half a century ago, the highest court in the land declared that every American has access to reproductive freedom and abortion care. Will you help us protect Roe V. But nearly every day for the last 49 years, the declaration by the Court has been under fire by anti-abortion extremists. And every year, these attacks get louder and bolder. Last year in Texas, ​​we witnessed the most aggressive state law looking to ban abortion access at six weeks — before many people even know they’re pregnant. SCOTUS upheld that atrocious state law, hinting at a future in which Roe would no longer be upheld by the very court that issued the decision decades ago.

With SCOTUS failing to act, other states have been given the go-ahead to pass their own draconian abortion bans. Nearly 600 abortion restrictions have been introduced in state legislatures just this year. Additionally, the Supreme Court is expected to issue a decision this year in the Mississippi case, Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, this coming term. If decided in favor of Mississippi, that ruling would swipe Roe v. Wade’s last leg and open the door to even more abortion restrictions around the country. 

Luckily, here in Nevada, we have elected officials who have gone to the mat for abortion access.
