John,
Aqua is buying up public water works all over Pennsylvania, and then
hiking up water bills by hundreds of dollars.
But you can help stop Aqua’s water monopoly. In just two days, the House
is set to vote on a bill that would protect PA’s water from being bought
by profit-hungry corporations.
This is our best chance to save Pennsylvania from Aqua’s greed. But unless
we get just a handful more representatives to commit to a ‘yes’ vote by
Monday, the vote will be canceled. That is why your representative needs
to hear from you now.

HB 527.
Last year, multiple bills were introduced in the House to try to stop
Aqua’s hostile takeovers of PA’s water. But corporate lobbyists made sure
that those bills did not go anywhere.
HB 527 has managed to get widespread, bi-partisan support in the House
despite Aqua’s attempts at sabotage. And with enough public outcry this
weekend, we can make sure it succeeds.
If passed, this bill would require a public notice and a public meeting
ahead of a sale, as well as unanimous consent to the sale by all members
of the water system’s governing body. It would protect Chester Water
Authority and countless other publicly-owned water systems across the
state. And it would save millions of people from seeing their water bills
go up by hundreds of dollars.
That is why it is so important that you make sure your representative
votes ‘yes’ on HB 527 next week.
