John,

Late Wednesday night Democratic Senators Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin joined with 50 Republican Senators voting against fixing the Jim Crow filibuster, blocking the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act, the critical reform bill to save our democracy.

So now we know exactly who to hold accountable.

Chip in to our fight to relentlessly hold Manchin, Sinema and Senate Republicans accountable. [[link removed]]

John, we’re outraged that Senators blocked historic democracy reform.Senate Republicans once again made it clear that they stand with toxic billionaire donors and dark money interests over regular voters.

And instead of seizing a historic opportunity to protect the freedom to vote for everyone, Democratic Senators Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin shamefully sided with Mitch McConnell and Republican voter suppression efforts across the country. It’s no coincidence they’re raking in cash from billionaire GOP donors who benefit from the rigged status quo.

But they can’t stop our movement to pass reform and hold the toxic billionaires and corrupt politicians accountable.

Nearly a year ago, HAZMAT America members voted overwhelmingly to DEMAND that the Senate abolish the racist filibuster to pass critical reform.

And since then, we’ve rallied, called, signed petitions, sent messages to our Senators – and joined major actions like the ones on January 6 calling out Trump's Big Lie and over Martin Luther King Day weekend.

And our movement made a HUGE impact.

Just before Wednesday’s vote, Arizona’s OTHER Senator, Mark Kelly released a powerful statement committing to eliminate the filibuster in order to pass voting rights protections – and his position was shared by other Senators like Angus King of Maine and Chris Coons of Delaware – all had previously expressed skepticism about eliminating the filibuster.

We raised our voices to demand that Senators prioritize democracy -- and we made eliminating the Jim Crow filibuster a national issue, forcing Senators to take a stand.

We even joined with a national push to pressure President Biden to speak out to eliminate the filibuster to pass voting rights – and he did.

These victories demonstrate that our movement is only gaining momentum.

And now, because of the vote in the Senate, we know EXACTLY who to hold accountable for standing in the way of reform.

With your support we will call out Sinema and Manchin’s corruption and join efforts to defeat them. And we must NOT forget that Republicans have uniformly supported voter suppression and even cheered when the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act failed – we will not forget their cynical and morally bankrupt actions. [[link removed]]

In the meantime, if you have Democratic Senators NOT named Kyrsten Sinema or Joe Manchin, take the time to give them a call and thank them for fighting for democracy.

If your Senators include the 52 who voted against reform, call them and express your disappointment.

Call your Senators at (202) 224-3121 to get connected to their office.

In our country’s history, regular people have fought tooth and nail to win equal rights – and this situation is no different. As the late Civil Rights hero John Lewis said, “democracy is not a state. It is an act."

Thank you for all you do,

-HAZMAT America
