Team --
This week, we celebrated President Biden and Vice President Harris’s first inauguration anniversary. They took office amid several crises, but promised to move quickly to deliver results for working families. And that’s exactly what they’ve done.
Over 200 million Americans are fully vaccinated. We added 6.4 million jobs in 2021 -- the most ever recorded in one year. More Americans have health care coverage than ever before. The U.S. rejoined the Paris Agreement, Democrats passed the American Rescue Plan, and President Biden negotiated a bipartisan infrastructure package.
That’s just scratching the surface. Read on to learn more about the Biden-Harris administration’s accomplishments →
Build back better spotlight: Bridge repairs
Last week, the Biden-Harris administration launched a historic investment to repair and rehabilitate thousands of bridges across the country. The program -- funded through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law -- is the single largest dedicated bridge investment since the construction of the interstate highway system.
Learn more about some of the bridges that are in need of repair:
The Biden administration has hit the ground running with Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funds: They’ve already released or announced $53 billion to modernize highways, $65 billion for high-speed internet, $7 billion for clean water, $3 billion for over 3,000 airports, and $240 million to improve ports.
DNC 101: Protecting the right to vote
Did you know that the DNC runs a nationwide voter protection program? In the past year, we’ve seen 19 states enact 34 laws that make it harder for folks to cast their ballot. Let’s be clear: These restrictions are a direct threat to the heart of our democracy.
Our party is on the ground protecting, educating, and registering voters ahead of the 2022 midterm elections. Thanks to the support of folks like you, we already committed to investing $25 million to the cause. Here’s how we’re using those resources:
-
A nonstop voter protection and education effort: We need as many people as possible in communities helping folks find their polling place. And with more people on the ground, we’re better able to actively monitor and track voter suppression incidents.
-
Expanding voter and multi-lingual outreach: The DNC expanded robust voter education and coordinated events for voters of color across states, including multi-lingual outreach to mobilize growing Spanish-speaking and AAPI populations.
-
Providing voters with critical information: IWillVote.com is a one-stop shop for voters to learn more about how to cast their ballot. The DNC also runs a nationwide voter protection hotline where folks can call to report incidents or ask questions about voting.
