Dear neighbor:
Yesterday marked one year since President Biden and Vice President Harris were sworn into office. Despite the immense challenges of a deadly global pandemic and resulting economic crisis, the Biden Administration has worked tirelessly with congressional Democrats to deliver an historic recovery.
While there is certainly more work to be done, we should take note of some of the accomplishments of the past year. Thanks to our American Rescue Plan, we’ve delivered more than 200 million shots in arms, delivered money in pockets, and delivered safe classrooms for children to return to school. We’ve also seen an historic economic recovery that has delivered 6.4 million new jobs and reduced the unemployment rate with the biggest single-year drop ever – from 6.2 percent to 3.9 percent. And by passing our Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, we’re delivering good-paying union jobs, rebuilding roads, bridges, airports, ports, transit, and rail, and making the largest-ever investments in broadband and clean drinking water. The past year has shown – Democrats deliver for the people.
As you know, with economies reopening across the world, inflation is putting a strain on American families. I’m pleased that this week, the Biden Administration announced that $14 billion will go to 500 Army Corps of Engineers projects, including at ports, to help with supply chain issues. By making sure we can transport goods faster and easier, we will reduce the cost of goods. This is the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law in action.
