Friend,

You’ve heard about it on social media, from politicians and organizations, and on the news, but what exactly is the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA)?

Simply put, the Women’s Health Protection Act is historic federal legislation that enshrines the right to abortion care -- no matter where someone lives in the United States -- into law.

Here’s how the WHPA protects our right and access to abortion care:

- Upholds the right to access abortion throughout the United States.
- Protects against bans and medically unnecessary restrictions on abortion, including mandatory waiting periods, biased counseling, mandatory ultrasounds, and more.
- Establishes a statutory right for health care professionals to provide abortion care and the right for their patients to receive care.

The WHPA has already passed in the House, and now it faces the Senate.

Act now: Your senators need to hear from you! Write to your senators now and urge them to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act: [link removed]

This summer, the Supreme Court is set to rule on a case that directly challenges Roe V. Wade -- Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. And as anti-abortion state lawmakers across the country continue to pass hundreds of laws greatly restricting abortion care, we need the WHPA now more than ever.

The WHPA not only strengthens reproductive justice but economic and racial justice, too. Those hurt most by abortion restrictions -- including Black, Indigenous and people of color, women, trans men, nonbinary folks, low-income, and young people -- already face a number of obstacles when accessing health care.

The WHPA will decrease the burden on the shoulders of those who need it most by protecting their right to abortion care through federal law.

So, now you know all about the WHPA. Ready to make sure the WHPA passes in the Senate? Write to your senators and urge them to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act to ensure everyone has the ability to access abortion care -- no matter where they live.
