Today, I’m reaching out to wish you and your loved ones a happy Fourth of July. Every year, this holiday is an opportunity to reflect on how we are blessed to live in the United States, a country in which independence, freedom, and opportunity are the bedrock of our government.

There’s no question in my mind that Mississippi is the greatest state in our union. That’s why I’m running for governor -- because I want to grow our economy, improve our public education system, and make health care more affordable and accessible to take Mississippi to its full potential.

I’ll be sharing my vision for a better Mississippi today as I celebrate the holiday by attending the 40th Annual Jacinto Fourth of July Festival. And after a long day with supporters and volunteers on the campaign trail, Debbie and I are looking forward to gathering with friends and family for a backyard barbecue.

Whether you’re watching fireworks, taking in a parade, or relaxing in your own backyard, I hope that you and your loved ones are celebrating all that makes our nation, and Mississippi, great.

From me, Debbie, and all of Team Hood, enjoy a happy, safe Fourth of July. And please join me in thanking our law enforcement who are working overtime this holiday weekend to keep our communities safe.
