Team,
On Monday, Senator T’wina Nobles presented her first resolution as a State Senator in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the work he accomplished, and the work we still must do in the fight for racial equity and inclusion.
In light of the “audacity to believe that peoples everywhere can have … dignity, equality, and freedom for their spirits,” Senator Nobles stressed the necessity for us to put aside rhetoric that creates barriers and focus on what will uplift us as a state.
Here’s a quick overview of Senator Nobles’ resolution:
- Address systemic hunger issues in Washington
- Provide accessible and equitable education to everyone
- Assist Washington’s middle and low income families
- Protect everyone, and especially Black and Brown, from police violence
- Restore the humanity of incarcerated people

Here at WSDC, we strive to honor Dr. King and his legacy everyday as we continue to create progress, break down barriers, and represent the diverse communities in Washington.
Dr. King once said, “The time is always right to do right.”
