Twelve days ago, a massive fire in an apartment complex in the Bronx killed 17 people – making it the city’s deadliest fire in three decades.
More than 60 people were hurt and dozens were hospitalized in critical condition.
While we work to ensure that all measures are taken to mitigate future disasters like this one – we must come together to support the families devastated by the fire and help them get back on their feet.
100% of your donation will go directly to the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York Bronx Fire Relief Fund.
The 120-unit building was repeatedly cited for safety violations, including issues that ultimately appear to have contributed to the spread of the fire. While the investigation is still ongoing, this event is a stark reminder of the consequences of delayed maintenance and disinvestment in our housing.
Everyone has a right to live in a safe environment and we will continue to fight for the right to dignified housing for all.
It’s up to us to take care of our community members when they need help the most. That's the New York spirit and what makes our community strong.
Holding all of the families impacted in our thoughts.
