John, we don't have any time to waste.
The far-right is waging a
war against abortion and women nationwide – and we know that it'll hit Black women the hardest. We've said it once, and we'll say it a million times again:
#ExpandTheCourt.
We need to expand the Supreme Court because like everything else in this country, the court has been compromised by forces of white supremacy and political influence.
The attacks on abortion are no longer merely attacks – they're law.
In Texas, abortions after 6 weeks of pregnancy are banned – 6 weeks, which is before many people even know they are pregnant. Horrifyingly, this ban makes no exceptions for pregnancies resulting from incest or rape.
Other state legislatures like Florida and Alabama are in the process of passing similar or worsening bills just like the one in Texas. Soon other states will follow.
This is going to be a long, hard fight, John – but it's a fight we won't back down from.
Our work starts with ensuring the court is made up of Justices that put the people first -- that put democracy first, and that puts the freedom to our bodies first. Sign our petition now and demand President Biden #ExpandTheCourt.
The Texas abortion ban gets worse and worse: It even allows private citizens to sue abortion providers
and anyone else who helps a woman obtain an abortion.
It's the blueprint opportunity for white supremacist legislators all over the country.
Black women face significant barriers to obtaining quality reproductive health care, already lack access to contraception, and as a result, experience higher rates of unintended pregnancy than women of any other racial group.
The court's lack of action on abortion bans will continue to disproportionately impact those constantly discriminated against in health care --
especially reproductive health care.
We can't back down on this racial justice issue.
Access to abortion is health care, access to safe abortion is equity, access to safe abortion is racial justice.
