Today marks a special day for our movement,
John. We’re celebrating our five
year anniversary since the first Women’s March.

On January 21, 2017 we rose up together for the single biggest day of
protest in the history of our country. Five million of us — all around the
world — marched after Trump’s inauguration to show our feminist resistance
and we couldn’t be more proud of the movement we started that day.
For many of us, this was the first time we ever participated in a protest.
For some of us, this day inspired us to run for office and get involved in
politics for the first time. Every single one of us sent a powerful
message that day that women can transform the future of our country — and
we did.

Since that January, our work at Women’s March hasn’t slowed down one bit.
For the next five years we continued gathering, organizing for change,
taking on big fights, and resisting attacks on our feminist values — and
together we’ve moved mountains and elected a new administration to lead
our country. We’ve made it loud and clear that women, especially women of
color, are the driving force behind systemic change and political power in
our country.
Everyday women like all of us made this new chapter in politics possible
and we will continue to wield our power to make sure that the Biden
administration centers our most important priorities. Women are the soul
and future of this country — together we can make sure that we overcome
the crises we currently face, from racial injustice to the COVID-19
pandemic.
Although we can’t march this year due to COVID,
John, please know how much we
appreciate everything you’ve done to support our movement over the years.
