This week, the Senate voted on legislation that would restore voting protections and make it easier to cast ballots. Senate Republicans blocked those efforts.

What happened this week is discouraging, and what’s been happening to voting rights across our country this past year can feel scary.

But we can’t give up.

Our democracy is on the line, and that’s not an exaggeration. From an insurrection at the Capitol a year ago to now over 400 voting restrictions introduced nationwide -- 34 of which have been enacted -- the threat to our democracy is very real.

We can combat voter suppression and discrimination at the ballot box. We can prevent partisan gerrymandering. We can protect our elections against outside interference and attacks. And we can make election reforms to make sure voters’ voices always take precedence over corporate interests and dark money.
