John,

From Trump describing COVID-19 with racist epithets to GOP members endorsing horse dewormer and bleach as suitable medical treatments, the GOP has been peddling COVID misinformation since the very first case was identified.

So it comes as no surprise that earlier this month, Kentucky Republican Rand Paul attacked one of our nation’s top COVID-19 experts, Dr. Anthony Fauci, during a Senate Health Committee hearing.

This hearing was convened to discuss the ongoing challenges presented by the pandemic, but Republicans seemed more interested in launching personal attacks against Dr. Fauci.

As a seasoned public servant, Dr. Fauci has clearly dealt with guys like this before. So, he called out what we have all known since the beginning of the pandemic: Republicans like Rand Paul are using the pandemic for their own political gain. Dr. Fauci was prepared, bringing screenshots of Paul’s campaign website, where he is fundraising off of his personal attacks on Dr. Fauci.

As COVID-19 continues to impact our hospitals, our education system, and small businesses across the country, wasting precious Senate time on these attacks — rather than discussing solutions — is a slap in the face to all Americans.

Team, it’s clear to us that Republicans are not fit to lead this country through the pandemic. If you agree, will you contribute anything you’re able to make sure Democrats like Eric are equipped to continue to lead?
