Dear Friends,
This Saturday will mark 49 years since the U.S. Supreme Court affirmed a legal right to abortion through Roe v. Wade. Nearly 50 years after that decision, people across the U.S. still can’t access the abortion care they need.
Decades of abortion restrictions have put the ability to get abortion care out of reach for many and disproportionately harm those facing multiple barriers to health care and other forms of discrimination.
What’s more, the U.S. Supreme Court is currently considering a case that presents a direct threat to Roe v. Wade. If Roe falls, half of U.S. states could act immediately to prohibit abortion entirely. We know that the right to abortion is not real if only some people can access it.
This is why we need to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA). WHPA would block abortion bans and ensure everyone has access to the abortion care they deserve. The House passed WHPA on September 24, 2020—and now we need the Senate to act. Please contact your Senators today—even if you’ve already done so before—to demand a vote to pass WHPA now. We need it more than ever!
