I’m sure you all saw "Moscow" Mitch McConnell this week “saying the quiet part out loud” (as they say on Twitter) about what he really thinks about Black Americans.

In case you missed it, he was defending his craven opposition to the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement bill by saying it’s unnecessary because – and I quote – “African-American voters are voting in just as high a percentage as Americans.”
Read it again, folks: “ African-American voters are voting in just as high a percentage as Americans .”
Get it? It’s crystal clear that Mitch McConnell believes African-American and “real” American are two different things.
This is today’s Republican party, folks . When they yell their nonsense about how “Republicans ended slavery!” and “The KKK was founded by Democrats!,” just remember that a hit dog hollers, and people (and political parties) change.
We all know that Southern Democrats USED to be racist. That’s our historical shame to bear. But it isn’t who we are anymore.
It is who the Republicans have become.
Wednesday night’s shameful vote will not be remembered kindly by tomorrow’s history books. And while I’m outraged that two of our own joined the GQP in refusing to protect the rights of Americans of all colors to vote, I’m damn proud that 48 of them did the right thing when ZERO Republicans did.
John , there’s a war on democracy being waged by the GQP in the U.S. Senate, and it’s up to you and me to change the balance of the next engagement.
My years in the Army taught me that the best way to defeat the enemy – and make no mistake, today’s Republican Party is the enemy of our democracy – is with superior numbers.
Right now, we don’t have that. We may have the titles and trappings of the majority, but we don’t have the numbers to back it up . And since Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema aren’t up for re-election until 2025, that means we’re going to have to find reinforcements by flipping Republican seats this year.

Our powerhouse lineup of early endorsements – Val Demings in Florida, John Fetterman in Pennsylvania, Sarah Godlewski in Wisconsin, and Tim Ryan in Ohio – each have a strong plan for rural outreach and engagement, and policy proposals that will help rural families thrive.
No Dem Left Behind has a plan for hands-on rural outreach and engagement, too, and a list of additional Senate candidates in winnable rural states we’d love to back with our endorsement.
