Five years ago today, Suzan marched for women everywhere at the Inaugural Women's March in Washington, D.C.
Suzan has spent her life championing the rights of women and to share that moment with her community was truly special. Suzan understands that through tough times – when our movements come together and rise up and fight for better days – great things can happen.
That moment did not stop at that March for Suzan, but it spurred her on to advocate for legislation and policies regarding women's rights, health care reform, disability justice, and reproductive rights.
It is critical now more than ever that we have a leader like Suzan in Congress. And as we look to November, our right to vote, to equal pay, and to our own bodies are all at stake.
Today is also the eve of the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, and with the Supreme Court deliberating on overturning this fundamental and crucial right, we can't afford to stop now. This past year we have seen unprecedented attacks on reproductive rights.
From Texas to Mississippi, we must now fight harder than ever to protect those rights -- so all women can safely and legally make their own healthcare decisions without government intervention.
Women's rights are human rights and we should never stop fighting for them. Thank you for standing up with us.
